The Havre High golf team has four individuals, three boys and one girl, who will be competing in Sidney on Friday and Saturday in the state tournament.
Head coach Dennis Murphy shared with New Media Broadcasters that this is not the first time or the second time or even the third time that the Blue Ponies have played on this course.
“It’s kind of ironic; this will be the fourth time we’ve played this course this year,” Murphy said. “We should be very familiar with it (with) no new surprises.”
“They don’t move the holes around or anything like that, so our kids are very familiar and hopefully we will put up some good scores,” Murphy continued.
Murphy wants to make sure that his kids are not getting ahead of themselves when it comes to navigating the Sidney golf course. He said what the biggest difference is between the boys and the girls playing.
“For the boys, it’s actually a fairly difficult course because it is fairly long,” Murphy said. “Because of that, there are a few obstacles that they have to hit over or hit around.”
“It’s a little bit more friendly for the girls,” Murphy continued. “The biggest thing is not to put ourselves in situations where we have to deal with those obstacles.”
