HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Leaders from both Havre and Hill County met in the Hill County Courthouse on Wednesday morning to continue discussions on creating an ambulance district for Hill County.
Discussions began after Havre Mayor Tim Solomon sent a letter to the Hill County Commissioners arguing the county wasn’t paying their fair share for Havre’s ambulance service calls outside of city limits.
The County Commissioners have previously voted to put a county-wide mill on the November ballot to provide funding for the ambulance district. Language of the measure, as well as the number of mills that will be requested, have not been finalized.
If approved by the voters, this would provide a funding mechanism that city and county leaders believe would keep ambulance services sustainable at their current levels across Hill County.
Two public meetings are scheduled on the matter. The first is on July 14th at 7 PM at the Hi-Way Bar in Hingham. The second is on July 15th at 6:30 PM at the Great Northern Fairgrounds Community Center.
