Havre Law Enforcement Increase Patrols for New Year’s

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – New Year’s Eve is nearly here and law enforcement in Havre have stepped up patrols in an effort to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roads. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says they will have quite a few extra officers in the Havre area enforcing DUI and seatbelt ordinances.

He encourages people to take advantage of some of the safe ride home programs that will be going on over the weekend and the New Year’s Day holiday, like the Taxi Coupons. Matosich says the Havre-Hill County DUI Taskforce and local businesses donate funding to this program, which can get you a free ride home if you’ve been drinking.

He says they tend to see more DUI’s and weather-related car wrecks this time of year and he wants to encourage people to drive safely.
