Havre Man Facing Felony for Allegedly Forging Checks

HAVRE, Mont (NMB) – A Havre man is facing a felony count of forgery by common scheme after allegedly forging checks.

According to court documents, the alleged forged checks were written by Zakery Dale Jones between Nov. 19 and Dec. 1, 2019. The total value of the checks is over $2,800.

Court documents state that Jones is believed to have falsified checks in the name of two people, including his father. One of the recipients of a forged check told officers that Jones told him his father left him checks to use while he was away.

Jones was arrested and placed in Hill County Detention Center on Dec. 9.

Jones remains in the Hill County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 6 at the Hill County Courthouse.
