Havre Man Leads Police on Short Pursuit Thursday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Thursday afternoon, Havre police attempted to stop a man who was known to officers for violating the conditions of his release. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says that Matthew Allen Bell had allegedly violated his 24/7 sobriety program and was found near the Zip Trip in Highland Park.

Bell allegedly refused to pull over and led the officer on a short chase through Havre, reaching speeds of 65 miles per hour. The driver eventually pulled over in the parking lot of College Park Plaza and was arrested. He has also been charged with operating a motor vehicle with fictitious plates, fleeing a peace officer and driving without insurance.

Matosich says no one was injured and as of Friday morning, Bell was being held in the Hill County Detention Center.
