Havre Ordinance Committee Discusses Updating Building Permit Fees

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre City Council’s Ordinance Committee met on Monday evening and discussed potentially changing building permit fees.

The last time Havre revised the ordinance regarding building permit fees was in 1999, when they used the 1991 edition of the Uniform Building Code to set fees.

If approved by the full Council, Building Permit fees adopted would be based on the sample permit fee schedule in the latest Uniform Building Code.

For construction with a valuation of under $500, the new permit fee would be $24, up from the current $15. For construction valuated at between $40,001 to $100,000, the new permit fee would be $487 for the first $40,000; plus $9 for each additional $1,000 of the valuation.

The ordinance change will have to be approved twice by the City Council to be enacted.
