HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon and unanimously approved personnel matters and a pair of collective bargaining agreements.
The personnel matters approved included the hiring of seven paraprofessionals, a middle school teacher, two middle school assistant football coaches, and a concessions manager.
The two collective bargaining agreements that were approved were with the Havre Paraprofessionals Education Association and Building Administrators.
The agreement with paraprofessionals is for one year and includes a 4.75 percent pay increase on the base salary and a six percent increase on insurance. Superintendent Craig Mueller says the starting base wage for paraprofessionals with the District is now $14.14 an hour, and the highest paid paraprofessional will make a base of $20.54 an hour.
The agreement with the Building Administrators is for three years. It includes an annual 2.5 percent increase on the base salary and also includes language changes that “more clearly define the start and stop dates of each administrator’s contract.”
Mueller said after the meeting that they are working on finalizing the collective bargaining agreement with the Havre Education Association for the upcoming school year, and as of now it includes a 4 percent increase on base pay and a six percent increase on insurance. That contract is expected to be on the agenda at the District’s regular September Board meeting. There is a chance it could be on the agenda at next Tuesday’s Special Meeting, but Mueller indicated that is unlikely.
Trustees Tim Scheele, Curtis Smeby, and Lorraine Larson appeared at the meeting in-person at the Robins Administrative building. Trustees Garrit Ophus, Christin Hileman, and Britnee Loch appeared at the meeting virtually. Cindy Erickson and Jake Ingram were the two Trustees not in attendance.
