The Havre Softball Team began their journey through the Eastern “A” Divisionals Thursday against Park. The Blue Ponies went on to win the first game (8-2).
Avery Carlson and Jersi Morse managed multiple hits in the ballgame and Elle Verpoloegen earned the win in the circle allowing seven hits and two runs over seven innings with five strikeouts and no walks.
Havre started off hot scoring five funs in the first inning. Scoring included Molly Huse (hughes) having a two-run knock, and Morse with an RBI double.
The Blue Ponies came back a few hours later and took care of the Hardin Bulldogs (9-2). Hardin recorded a run in the top of the first inning. Then Havre retaliated by scoring 7 unanswered runs over the next two innings. Hannah Gingery was stellar at the plate, recording three hits, including a 3-run home run in the 1st inning. Her teammate Camille Keeley also went yard on a 3-run homer in the second inning.
The Bulldogs got back on the scoresheet with a run in the third, but it wasn’t enough. The Blue Ponies put up two more insurance runs in the 6th inning to close it out.
Verploegen was in the circle again for Game 2 and she tossed a gem, pitching a complete game while allowing only one earned run and striking out eight Bulldogs.
