Havre Softball Results – Fergus Invite Day 1

The 12th annual Fergus Invitational Softball Tournament got going on Friday morning in Lewistown with Havre playing a doubleheader. The Blue Ponies would go on to drop a couple to Southeastern ‘A’ teams in Laurel, (7-6) and Billings Central, (15-9).

In the first matchup, Kamree Oliver got the scoring going with an RBI single in the opening inning. The Locos took the lead in the bottom half, but Havre regained the edge half an inning later as Bree Hanson hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot which broke a (2-2) tie. Again, Laurel answered and Havre found itself down by four runs in the fourth inning. The Blue Ponies scored again in the fifth inning, crossing the plate twice on a bases loaded walk and a Tahlyn Olson two-run single, respectively. Havre would later be retired in the top of the seventh and had no real threat in tying the game once again.

Game two was busy early with the Rams putting up four runs in the first inning. Havre answered with a bases-loaded walk for Rachel Jette, but BCC crushed three home runs in the second inning. Havre didn’t back down, though. The Ponies managed a six-run third inning, which was highlighted by Riely Doney hitting her first career home run, putting three runs on the board in one swing. Jette crushed her first home run of the season in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to six runs, but that’s as close as Havre got on the afternoon with the run rule enacted.

With weather permitting, Havre softball (3-2) continues its campaign at the Fergus Invitational on Saturday, facing Park County at 9:30am and Lockwood at 3:30pm.
