Havre Softball Splits Pair at Fergus Invite

On Friday, the Havre softball team went to Lewistown for the first of a two-day tournament and had mixed results. They dropped an (11-1) 5-inning game to Billings Central before coming back to beat East Helena, (11-4).

In game one against the Rams, center fielder Jersi Morse had two of the five Blue Pony hits, while left fielder Brenna Hanson drove in the only run, an RBI single in the fourth inning to score Elle Verploegen.

Game two saw Havre go back to its winning ways against the Vigilantes, dominating both in the batter’s box and in the circle. Morse, Hanson, and third baseman Kamree Oliver each collected multiple runs batted in, while right fielder Rachel Jette homered and had five total bases to lead the team. The big spurt of offense came in the second inning when Havre scored six runs and batted around the lineup. In the circle, Verploegen struck out nine East Helena batters.

The Blue Ponies (4-1) will wrap up the Fergus tournament on Saturday with games against Columbia Falls and Laurel. Stay tuned to New Media Broadcasters for those results.
