Havre softball closed out the 2025 Bette Paskey Memorial tournament in Frenchtown on Saturday with matchups against Corvallis and Hamilton. The Blue Ponies blew out the Blue Devils, (14-4) in five innings and got past the Broncs (7-5).
14 batters appeared in the box during the first inning of the first game. Nine runs came across for the Ponies and there was no looking back. After a Havre run that scored on a wild pitch, Corvallis got a couple back in the third inning. Another four runs scored for the Blue Pony offense in the fourth inning to put the contest away for good. Havre was patient at the plate, walking 12 times in 27 at-bats, while only striking out four times. Blue Pony pitching combined for six strikeouts as Olivia Keller and Rachel Jette K’d three batters each.
Havre struck first in their contest against Hamilton, plating a run in the first. The Ponies added a second run in the second, only to see their advantage cut back to one in the bottom half of the inning. Hamilton knocked in another run in the third to even things to two. The back and forth would continue in the 4th with another Havre run, only to see Hamilton even things out again in the fifth. A sixth inning run put the Lady Ponies back on top, and would extend their lead with a three-run seventh. Hamilton still had a chance in the bottom of the inning, but was able to only score two runners in the rally and coming up just short.
Havre (8-5) will see a quick turnaround, as they host the Fergus Golden Eagles Tuesday evening at 6pm.
