Havre Tennis Reflects and Looks Ahead

The Havre tennis teams had only one day of competition at its own invite over the weekend. The biggest storyline besides the play was honoring of seven seniors in their final seasons of competition for the team: Carter Spangler, Jackson Headdress, Reid Kato, Mason Kinsella, Mylee Shennum, Chloe Bricker, and Kylie Greenwood.

Head coach Jeff Miller told New Media Broadcasters how the squads were able to get quality time on the court and help the Blue Ponies have a successful day.

“We had a really good day,” Miller said. “We had seven seniors that we honored. (It was) good to be able to get them out on the court (and) get a couple matches in each with all of them.”

“Overall, I thought everyone played really well,” Miller continued. “We got to mix things up a little bit with our lineup.”

With the highs of hosting in their own backyard, the team must now be ready to play its most important games yet. Havre will be back where the season started, entering into the Cut Bank ‘A’ Invite. Miller knows his players will able to rise to the occasion to take on schools from all over the state this weekend.

“This weekend is probably one of the most important weekends of the year,” Miller said. “We play four teams; three from the west and one from the south.”

“They’re all going to be really good teams,” Miller continued. “We’re going to have to come ready to play.”

“It’s really good competition,” Miller said. “Hopefully, this week will go well at practice and we’ll be ready to go on Friday and Saturday.”

Like coach Miller said, the Havre tennis teams will be in Cut Bank for that Invite on Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned to New Media Broadcasters for results from both days.
