Havre tennis played matches in Cut Bank for its Class ‘A’ invite, pitting east versus west. Teams from the west included Libby, Polson, Hamilton and Cut Bank. Teams from the east were East Helena, Billings Central, Havre and Hardin.
On Friday morning, the Blue Ponies faced off with Hamilton. The girls’ narrowly lost, (4-3), while the boys’ were shut out, (7-0). Loise Evangelista was the only winner from the girls’ side in singles, getting an (8-4) victory. The Blue Ponies swept the girls’ doubles as Heather Herring and Alera Chandler won, (8-2), while Mackenzie Hanson and Jaidyn Cole also won, (8-3).
Havre also played on Friday afternoon, this time taking on Polson. The girls’ flipped the script this time and won, (4-3), while the boys’ took a (5-2) defeat. Evangelista (8-4), Kylee McNew (8-6), and Arielle Kaftan (8-2) were all victorious in singles. Girls’ doubles was also another Herring/Chandler winner, (8-6). The Havre boys’ got two doubles wins. Max Spangler and Carter Chagnon dominated, (8-1), while Aiden Moomey and Cash Schubert were winners, (8-6).
The Cut Bank ‘A’ invite continues with Havre squaring off against Libby and Cut Bank on Saturday afternoon.
