Havre Tennis Results – Cut Bank ‘A’ Invite Saturday

Havre tennis continued its Cut Bank ‘A’ Invite play on Saturday, facing Libby first and then ending the tournament against the hosts.

In the afternoon session against the Loggers, the girls’ just got by, (4-3), while the boys’ suffered a (6-1) defeat. Arielle Kaftan was the only singles winner on the girls’ side, (8-6). The Blue Ponies were able to build off of strong doubles play as Heather Herring / Alera Chandler (8-4), Mackenzie Hanson / Jaidyn Cole (8-7, 1), and Olivia Montelongo / Emma Bitz (8-6) all won. The only Havre boys’ win was the consistent play of Max Spangler/Carter Chagnon, who took an (8-4) victory.

Playing against a perennial state contender year in and year out in the Wolves, the Blue Ponies got another girls’ team victory, (6-1) and the boys’ dropped, (5-2). In girls’s singles, Kaftan was joined by Lindsey Leinwand, Loise Evangelista, and Kylee McNew as they all won by a combined score of (32-7). Herring and Chandler were able to just get by in doubles, (5-4), while Hanson and Cole dominated, (8-2). Two Havre boys’ singles winners were Cash Schubert and Wyatt Jelly, both winning their matches, (8-6).

The next time Havre tennis plays again will be Apr. 22 at the CMR courts in Great Falls against the Rustlers and Great Falls High Bison.
