The Havre tennis teams got back to business over the weekend with two days of competition against a slew of other Class ‘A’ schools in Cut Bank. Havre had two duals on both days, facing Billings Central Catholic and Polson on Friday and Libby and Hardin on Saturday.
Against Polson, Havre won one of three boys singles matches, courtesy of Wyatt Jelly (8-5), while taking two of three doubles matches as the Spangler brothers rolled (8-4), while Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon got an (8-3) victory. The Havre girls got one singles victory against Polson with Loise Evangelista winning, (8-4).
Day two saw a Havre team victory for the boys to start the day against Libby. Vance Burr played a tiebreak and won, (8-7) and 4 for the lone singles victory, while the Blue Ponies dominated doubles with a sweep. Carter and Max Spangler (8-4), Kinsella and Chagnon (8-6), as well as Reid Kato and Callen Stoner (8-3) were all victorious. Evangelista (8-1) and Tyley Hemmer (8-6) were singles winners for the Havre girls over Libby.
The matches with Hardin did not go over well for the Ponies as they were only able win once combined for both the boys’ and girls’ as Kinsella and Chagnon won in doubles, (8-4).
