Havre’s Community Christmas Dinner Fed Over 700 People

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) -On Tuesday, the Havre Community Christmas Dinner was again well-attended. The Eagles Club provided about 725 meals to community members between in-house and delivered meals. Dinner organizer Tom Farnham says this number is down from last year, but the weather may have had an impact.

“It was down about 80 from last year, but the weather’s super this year. So a lot of people traveled instead of stopping locally and having a good dinner. Once again, we’d never be able to do this dinner without the local businesses and the local volunteers that make it happen.”

Farnham says they did run out of turkey at the end of service, but overall, things went well.

“Service went nice and smooth. Right at the end we ran out of turkey, but we only had to turn about 15 people away without no turkey. But there was a great meal there to fill them up, so they were all happy also. We did 360 pounds of turkey. It’s a boneless turkey.”

Farnham says they delivered 310 meals and had about 40 volunteers help with the dinner. This event is made possible by donations from community members and different businesses around our area.
