HAVRE, Mont (NMB) – On Thursday morning, a Havre man led police on a high-speed pursuit in Hill County, ending when the man struck a deer.
Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says that at 8:25 AM Thursday, officers attempted to stop 34-year-old Havre resident Terry Wells in the 1500 block of 11th Street West.
Wells, who had warrants out for his arrest, refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed pursuit through Havre. Wells proceeded to travel southbound into Beaver Creek Park. In the park, Wells’ vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Renegade, struck a deer and officers were able to stop him. Wells was arrested without incident.
Wells’ vehicle sustained significant damage to its front end, while the patrol vehicle sustained minor damage to its front end.
There were two other occupants in the vehicle; a 39-year-old female from Havre and a 22-year-old female from Box Elder. Both were released to the Rocky Boy Police.
Wells was transported to the Hill County Detention Center pending formal charges for six counts of criminal endangerment, fleeing a Peace Officer and obstructing justice. Wells is also being held on two District Court felony warrants, a pick up and hold order from the Department of Corrections, and for violating his conditions of release.
Wells is currently being held without bond.
