HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The cold front that swept through Montana on Monday and Tuesday brought with it severe west winds that have caused several issues along the Hi-Line.
In Glacier County, where winds gusted over 80 miles an hour, several semitrucks tipped over and there were reports of roofs blowing off.
Power outages have also been reported throughout the state, including in the Hays-Lodgepole area, where school was canceled on Tuesday and local Tribal Offices were closed.
Browning Public Schools also canceled classes on Tuesday due to the winds.
For Havre Public Schools, out-of-town buses did not run on Tuesday morning due to the high winds, but school was in session in all buildings.
According to the National Weather Service, maximum wind gusts reported in north-central Montana included an 87 mile per hour gust at the Cut Bank Airport, a 62 mile-per-hour gust at the Havre Airport, and a 72 mile-per-hour gust south of Harlem.
