HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission held their weekly business meeting on Thursday morning and unanimously approved several agenda items.
Agenda items approved:
- A resolution creating a budget for the over $1.1 million in cycle four of CARES Act funding that the County was awarded on December 30th. Commissioner Mark Peterson called this, “a bright spot for us to get some things fixed,” that would have otherwise had taken years to obtain funding for via grants
- The contract with KUBL Group for the project to upgrade the electrical, communication and control systems in the Detention Center. This will cost over $250,000 and is being funded by a Delivering Local Assistance grant. Peterson said these upgrades have been long awaited, as the current security system in the Detention Center is outdated
- The bid package from FICO to upgrade the security for the County Courthouse. The County is paying for this through a grant of over $80,000 from the Department of Homeland Security. Work that will be done includes replacing door locks and installing cameras
- The following Board re-appointments
- Debbit Vandeberg to the Historic Preservation Commission
- Mischelle Fisher and John Baniato the Tourism Buisness Improvement District Board
- Pete Kuhr to the Hill County Weed District Board
- Marty Barger and Steve Sapp to the Zoning Board of Adjustments
Before the meeting adjourned, the Commission announced that next week’s business meeting will be moved to Wednesday. This is because the Commission will be spending Thursday interviewing the five finalists for the two open MSU-Extension positions for Hill County. There are two finalists for the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent position, and three finalists for the Ag Agent position.
