HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Park Board met on Monday evening at the Great Northern Fairgrounds Community Center for their regular monthly meeting.
The Board stated that monitoring progress in Beaver Creek Park, including on water quality, is continuing. A presentation will be held on the matter on November 17th at 5:30 PM, at a location to be determined.
As for the potential building of a south cross fence to split the south pasture into two, this will be further discussed at the Grazing Committee meeting, which will be held later this month.
During group reports, Superintendent Chad Edgar said that Havre Trails is working on adding directional signs to some of their trails and addressing a wash out.
In the Superintendent’s report, Edgar said park usage has slowed considerably as cattle grazing continues. Conditions at the park have improved thanks to 3.1 inches of precipitation they received in September. They are working on fixing up some picnic tables and winterizing the park. Road maintenance and ash cleaning is also underway. On the Beaver Creek Nature Trail, someone recently stole a metal gate, and the Park has replaced it with a wire one.
Edgar added they have had some issues with vehicles recently, as their four wheeler broke down and the garbage truck has had problems. However, cabin owner Lee Morse donated four tires for the garbage truck that has improved its performance.
In the public comment portion of the meeting, Lou Hagener asked the Park Board to be more transparent about a public notice issued last week about trapping at the park beginning on October 15th. Hagener requested this be added as an agenda item for the next meeting.
The next Park Board meeting is scheduled for November 2nd.
