HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Park Board convened on Monday evening in Havre for their regular monthly meeting.
The Board said when it comes to the project to rehabilitate the Lodge at Beaver Creek Park, they are continuing to work on drafting a plan.
During the meeting, the Board received a $4,800 donation from Northwest Farm Credit Union for lodge repairs. NW Farm Credit Union employees Heidi Borlaug and Courtney Helmers provided the check, adding that the company would also like to provide community service time to help with the lodge project if possible.
Much more funding will be needed, some of which the Board hopes will come from an Economic Development Administration grant.
The Park Board says they are requesting letters of support from community members that use the Lodge to write about how beneficial it is. Superintendent Chad Edgar said these letters would increase their odds at getting the grant. They can be mailed to the Park or provided to the Hill County Commission.
In his Superintendent report, Edgar said there are still 1,415 cattle grazing in the Park. There are virtually no cattle in the south end of the park. Pasture in the Kiwanis area is still holding up, and the north pasture is in decent shape.
There were no collisions reported between cattle and vehicles in the past month, so the total number of collisions this grazing season, which concludes at the end of the calendar year, remains at six.
The next Park Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 3rd at 5:30 PM at the Timmons Room of the Hill County Courthouse.
