(Havre) The Hill County Unified Disposal announced the increase of prices across the board today in order to keep themselves competitive and to continue to be able to function as a department.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson, who explained what the prices will be changed to and why they’re raising the prices in the first place.
“Contaminated dirt now will be 75 dollars a ton, then the tonnage rate will go to 60 dollars a ton, the household rate is going to 105 [dollars], it was at 90 [dollars], the tires are going to 150 dollars a ton. What we find out if we don’t keep raising our rates is the land fills around us raise their rates and then people say ‘well, it’s cheaper to haul to Havre.’ So we end up handling all that material from other areas so we just need to be competitive.”
