(NMB)The sixth Annual Hoops for a cause, a fundraiser to help Frontier Conference Athletes going through cancer treatments, was held in Havre over the weekend. 31 three on three teams competed in 3 different gyms. There was a silent auction including items from Frontier Conference teams and coaches. Montana and Montana State donated items too. This years recipients of funds raised were Jett Jones of MSU Northern and Jaynah Gopher of The University of Providence. Event organizer, Skylight Coach Chris Mouat said the event was a big success. “We had some really generous anonymous donations that I think those will put us over the top from where we’ve ever been. So, to have it be a record breaking day right here in Havre just says a lot about the people here and how much they care about a cause like Jett and Jaynah, then to have those two here, that was my highlight of the day, having those two kids here and just having them speak at the barbecue to everybody. It was great to see them especially knowing all that they’ve been going through, to have them here and put smiles on their faces. They enjoyed it and I know they appreciated it and so did their families.”
The Lions Club of Havre fed all participants and their families with a barbecue Saturday afternoon. Coach Mouat thanks all the volunteers, donors and businesses for helping and supporting this years hoops for a Cause.
