(Havre) – Interim Superintendent of Havre Public Schools, Brad Moore recently spoke to New Media Broadcasters about an opportunity for teachers in the district to address the math teacher shortage.
“Last year with the math, when we had a real shortage in trying to find qualified math teachers, the district took on a project of let’s grow our own. So, we pit together a proposal, and it was approved by the board to take some of our qualified teachers and help them achieve their endorsement in exchange for teaching in that area. We have two staff members currently doing that right now and in one short year it’s solved our shortage of math teachers in the High School as well as preparing somebody in case we need another one there. It’s been very, very successful and the university system has really helped us with that project.”-Moore
