FLATHEAD COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – NBC Montana reports that human remains were discovered by rafters floating in the Flathead River northeast of Kalispell late Monday morning.
The remains were located in an area that was recently uncovered due to low water levels.
Sheriff Brian Heino says the remains appear to have been in the river for a long time after the body was caught on a log.
The remains took hours to recover due to a lack of road access and will be sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for investigation.
