Ice Fishing in Chinook

The Rod’n Gun Club are hosting their 4th annual Ice Fishing Tournament this Saturday February 4th. The Tournament will take place at the Drive Fort Reservoir just north of Chinook, with 4 cash prizes to be given out and the 5th cash prize will go to the Rod’n Gun Club Scholarship.

Here’s what Elmar Zarn host of the event had to say about what to expect:

“What we do is there’s a 30-dollar entry fee for each angler. We don’t do teams. It’s all individual anglers. You can fish with people if you want, but you each have to pay an entry fee, and then that’s divided 5 ways. Four of them are used for cash prizes for the largest fish in each of the categories which are northern pike, walleye, perch, and bass and then the fifth cut goes right into our scholarship fund.”-Elmar Zarn

After the event everyone will meet at the Pastime Lounge where the prizes will be awarded while enjoying Taco Soup. There will be a raffle with the winner getting a 2-day Ice Castle rental at the Sleeping Buffalo Reservoir.

Early reservations of the event will be held Friday at 6-8PM at the Pastime Lounge in Chinook and the Shanty Bar in Havre, otherwise the tournament will begin Saturday morning at 7am.

The Rod’n Gun Club looks forward to seeing you on the ice this Saturday February 4th.
