HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – A Helena judge has ordered for the implementation of House Bill 102 on college campuses to be put on hold while it undergoes a judicial review.
The law, which allows those who meet safety certification to conceal carry firearms in most locations on college campuses, was set to go into effect on June 1st.
However, the Montana University System Board of Regents recently voted to seek judicial review to determine whether the law infringes on the “constitutional role and autonomy of the Board,” according to a press release from Clayton Christian, Commissioner of Higher Education.
While the new law’s implementation is on hold, all existing processes and procedures on Montana campuses will remain in place.
