Indian Ridge Trail closed due to moose carcass.

(Bozeman) The Custer Gallatin Forest closed about 5 miles of the Indian Ridge Trail for public safety reasons following numerous reports of a moose carcass on the trail.

Moose carcasses are one of many food sources for bears, and its presence increases the potential for bear-human encounters.

The Indian Ridge Trail is located on the west side of Gallatin Canyon, and could remain in effect until June 14th, but Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks promise to monitor the situation and open again when it’s safe to do so.
