(Helena) – Human Trafficking is an issue across the state of Montana, including our native American reservations. Supervisory Agent in Charge of Human Trafficking at the Montana Department of Criminal Investigation, Andrew Yedinak told New Media Broadcasters steps DCI is taking to make Human Trafficking investigations easier on the state’s Native American Reservations.
“You know, and another thing that we do with our agency with DCI is, you know, I mentioned that we partner with them, all of our agents are either in the process of or currently are task force officers with the Federal Agency. Meaning that we’re able to investigate those federal crimes and it gives us that jurisdiction piece.”
January is national human trafficking awareness month. If you suspect human trafficking in your community, Yedinak says to contact your local law enforcement agency.
