JOPLIN, Mont. (NMB) – The biggest annual event in Joplin, the Art in the Park and Car Show returns this Saturday.
Shay Richter, President of the Juvat Sled Jam, says the festivities begin at 8 AM with a communal breakfast and continue through about 2 AM with live music from Big Sky Drive wrapping it all up.
“This is the Super Bowl for Joplin every year. It brings people to town, keeps the town alive, it’s the one thing we kind have got to look forward to every year. This year with the rain coming in this week and maybe the following weekend, should really bring out all the people to get a chance to catch up with what’s going on at the farm, what’s going on in the community. The community comes together and it’s just a good day for the whole Hi-Line.”
Two big events coming to the show this year are motocross soccer, which will be at 4:15 PM, and stunts from 406 FMX, which will be at 5 PM.
“They are coming up from Butte and they are doing all types of flips and whips and different tricks. So they’ll go from 5 to 6 or 7, probably, with a few intermissions in-between. We’ll probably play some soccer on those big bikes during (intermission). Because it’s going to be 90 degrees out there, so we want to (prevent the bikes from) overheating.”
Richter urges attendees not to park on the football field this year in order to ensure there is enough space for the soccer and FMX.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the day.
