HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Farmers Union has announced the hiring of Kim Mangold as their Government Affairs Director.
Mangold spent part of her childhood in Havre and has family in Chinook and Inverness.
A press release says Mangold will help develop new legislative initiatives, support current issues and find effective approaches to improve laws and programs to benefit Montana producers.
Mangold says her first priorities in this new role is addressing access to healthcare in rural areas and taking on the rise in farmer suicides.
“Montana Farmers Union wants to examine those issues to determine what new policies need to be implemented or what new programs we need to participate in.”
Mangold spent 20 years working on state and federal policies, and was recently the Bureau Chief and Deputy Director for the Montana Department of Agriculture.
Montana Farmers Union is a statewide grassroots organization working for family farmers, ranchers and rural communities.
