Knudsen Talks Trafficking Indicators

On July 14th Attorney General Austin Knudsen launched a television PSA in hopes of combating human trafficking in Montana. Attorney General Knudsen talks about how Montana .
residents can identify trafficked people and what to do if they see one.

“There are certain indicators that when you see something that just doesn’t look right trust your gut. If something doesn’t look right report it. If you see a young person walking around with a significantly older person, if that young person is very subservient eyes cast down, they won’t make eye contact, they won’t talk to anybody, if you try to have a conversation with them they won’t engage. Certain tattoos, a lot of times these victims are tattooed like cattle they’re branded those are red flags. if you can walk up and ask that person what their name is, a lot of times these trafficking victims won’t be able to tell you what their name is because they’ve been given a fake name they often times have a hard time remembering. Ask them where they are they, oftentimes don’t know what state they’re in let alone what town they’re in that’s a dead giveaway. There’s a handful of things here. If you see something that looks strange if you hear something that looks strange call 911 we’d rather it got reported and end up being nothing then it not get reported and we lose another victim.”
