Land Border Restrictions with Canada Extended Through Late October

WASHINGTON (NMB) – Although Canada has reopened its land border to American travelers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the United States government has yet to return the favor.

In fact, the Biden administration announced Monday that the travel ban for non-essential Canadian visitors will be extended through October 21st. The restrictions initially went into place back in March 2020 and have been extended on a monthly basis ever since.

Montana’s entire congressional delegation, as well as Governor Greg Gianforte, have continued to press the Biden administration to reopen the border with Canada.

American tourists are permitted to cross the land border into Canada provided they have proof of vaccination and proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arrival.
