Lewistown residents may experience residual smoke from prescribed burns.

(BLM) The Bureau of Land Management’s North Central Montana District Fuels Management Program team began prescribed fire treatments in the Tin Can Unit L, which is around 15 miles north-east of Winnett.

Tin Can Unit L prescribed fire consists of about 3,110 acres, including private, state and BLM-administered lands.

These burns are part of a wider prescribed fire plan, and are far enough west in Petroleum County that those in Lewistown along with the easter end of Fergus County could be subject to residual smoke, which is expected to last several days.
