LFD Confirms Montana Budget Grew Just 2.1%, Lawmakers Dispute Misleading Claims

HELENA, Mont. — Montana’s Legislative Fiscal Division says the state’s 2025-2027 budget grew by just 2.1%—a rate below inflation.

In a report released this week, the LFD confirmed the legislature passed a balanced budget while delivering historic income and property tax cuts.

House Appropriations Chair Llew Jones pushed back on claims from the Montana Freedom Caucus that the budget rose by 18%, calling them misleading.

Lawmakers will get a full update during a June 10th committee meeting.
