The MSU-Northern wrestling team finished third in a field of 13 teams at the Cascade Conference Championship tournament held at the Northern Gym. Eastern Oregon took first with Menlo College taking second.
For the Lights, they crowned two champions. Isaac Bartell won the 197 pound championship with a pin and that victory has him tied for first on the all-time Northern win list with 165 wins. Bartell was also named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament. Also coming away as a conference champion for the Lights is Martin Wilkie at 141 pounds. Nakota Seigel finished second at 174 pounds and Nick Kuntz was third at 133.
Former Northern wrestler and assistant coach for the Light wrestling team Dustin Azure was named Cascade Conference coach of the year.
Next up for the Northern Grapplers will be the N.A.I.A National Championship tournament in Wichita, Kansas on March 4th and 5th.
