Havre, MT – MSU-Northern Lights and Skylights are preparing for their first home double header of the new look Frontier Conference with Dickinson State and Bismark State coming to Havre.
The Skylights are 2-1 in conference play this season and are looking to build on their momentum. Head coach of the Skylights Chris Mouat said his teams rebounding will be the big key against Dickinson, and Defending the three-point line will be the focus against Bismark.
“Dickinson, played them a couple times last year so we have a little familiarity there. They are really doing a nice job on the offensive boards; that’s one thing that I think jumped out to me so again going back to our rebounding is going to be really important. Bismarck is going to be one of the most unique teams we play. Their goal is to shoot 50 three-point shots a game. In their win against Rocky, they went 23 of 51. So, transition defense and then obviously guarding three-point line. They just are good at what they do, and we are going to have to take some of that away.”
The Lights are 1-2 in conference so far this season and are looking to get a win in their first home game of the year. Lights head coach Shawn Huse said his team has to be ready for two good teams. “Dickinson State is a team who plays very hard, their very patient, their a team who likes to get a lot of paint touches if they can. Bismarck has shown that shoot the three really well and their very capable. It’s conference time and we’ve got to get ready for all of them and we certainly feel like these are two big challenges we’ve got coming in here this weekend.”
Tipoff for the Skylights vs Dickinson State on Saturday is set for 5p.m. and the Lights are at 7p.m.
On Sunday the Skylights get things started at noon vs Bismark State and the Lights will follow at 2p.m.
