Northern Lights basketball has gone through struggle after struggle this season with a couple of bright spots. The team has been watching film to correct errors after the most recent defeat to Carroll on Saturday. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Shawn Huse his thoughts following the contest.
“We played the way you need to play in case you’re not shooting hot,” Huse said. “I think we’ve been doing a pretty darn good job of that, defensively.”
“I thought our defense was definitely there,” Huse continued. “It’s (now) a matter of us putting that ball in a little bit more and maybe having a couple less turnovers.”
What is convenient about this week for the Lights is that the team they played last is the team they will also play next, getting another crack at the Saints during the Frontier Conference tournament. Huse said how his team will be ready to go again and try to get over the hump this time to keep their season alive.
“I think our guys definitely have the confidence right now and are excited to go back and play them again after letting that get away right at the end,” Huse said.
“Our guys take all those positives and use them,” Huse continued. “This time, take a little better care of the ball and make a few more free throws.”
The Lights (8-20, 2-13) will be the No. 6 seed and gets No. 3 Carroll (14-14, 9-6) on Sunday night inside the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls. Noah Friedman will call the action around 7pm on KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com.
