The MSU-Northern Lights basketball team were swept in Frontier Conference action last week against Providence and Carroll. Head coach Shawn Huse told New Media Broadcasters that there were more positives to take from the defeats and mentioned the parts of his team’s game that were strong.
“We took care of the ball in both games. We rebounded well, exceptionally well at Carroll,” Huse said. “You’re doing everything really well.”
“I think the performance was there. I just think the missed shots was the big challenge for us this last weekend,” Huse continued. “(We) still do some silly things at times. I won’t deny that by any means, but for the most part, (we were) playing Northern basketball and watching film, our transition defense was really good. (However, we) can’t be playing it that much.”
The scene shifts to Thursday night, where the Lights will get a rematch with Montana Tech, who they lost to by two points two weeks ago at the Armory Gym. Coach Huse said the experience of Tech versus the experience of Northern will play a big part in seeing how this next contest is decided.
“Tech in particular has certain guys with something around six years of experience (together),” Huse said. “You’re hoping that the experience (Northern’s) group has got through the first round of conference now starts to pay off a little bit more each time.”
