Caldwell, ID – Saturday afternoon Montana State University-Northern football fell on the road at the College of Idaho 38-16.
For the fourth straight week Northern comes up short but still put points on the board. The lights trialed at halftime 24-3 but put up a touchdown in third and fourth quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Kendal O’Neal threw for a season high 223 yards and was the only source of offense for the Lights as the ground game finished with -5 yards on the afternoon.
O’Neal in the second half found Isaiah Woodley for two touchdowns. The first in the third quarter on a 78 yarder for the speedster. The second touchdown came in the four quarter on an 11 yard pass from O’Neal. Woodley finished the game with 3 receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Three out of four of the Lights touchdowns this season have come from the strong O’Neal to Woodley connection two of them occurred in this game.
On the defensive side of the ball the Lights came up with one tackle for loss and one interception.
Northern is at home next week Saturday, September 27, for a battle with Eastern Oregon. Kickoff will be at noon from Tilleman field in Havre and you can listen on KPQX.
