The MSU-Northern Lights basketball team is currently on its longest losing streak of the season at four games. New Media Broadcasters spoke with head coach Shawn Huse and he shared what has led to these results with the evolving nature of his squad from the beginning of the season until now.
“The irony of it is that earlier in the year, all of our damage was being done from our guards, primarily, and you got little moments of inside game,” Huse said. “Nothing like we’re getting now. I think our inside game is the bright spot, if you will and now we have to get our main guards going again.”
The entirety of the team will have to be on board when they square off with Rocky Mountain College on Thursday night at the Armory Gym. The last time these two teams played, Northern won by three points in overtime. Coach Huse is scrapping the idea of prepping as if these two teams are the same now as they were in the past.
“I suppose the oddsmakers would say this thing is going to go down to the wire based on the past, but where their team is right now (and) where our team is right now may or may not be where we were and what we were emphasizing whenever we played them last.”
“(Rocky) has weapons,” Huse continued. “There’s a reason they’ve done some things this year (like beat Montana State in Bozeman earlier). We have to be ready.”
