Local Officials Encourage Everyone to Shop Local

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – With the biggest shopping weekend of the year underway, local officials are encouraging residents to shop local.

Havre Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Julea Robbins says to help support this effort, her office has created a receipt sweepstakes.

“It’s pretty simple. When you go out and shop at a Chamber member business, take a photocopy or a photo of your receipt. Drop it off at the Chamber, send it in via email, or send it to our Facebook page, and you’ll be entered to win some local merchandise, which is pretty awesome.”

This promotion runs through December 7th, with additional incentives possible for those that post a picture of the merchandise and tag the Chamber on social media.

Chinook Chamber President Daniel Dahl says he also wants people to shop local.

“It’s probably the best thing this year for that. We rely on Amazon and Wal-Mart and all these stores all year long because they were open. Our stores are still open so lets support them by shopping local this year.”

So when you are doing your holiday shopping, remember that you can help out the local community if you shop local.
