HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Wednesday afternoon, a vehicle pursuit that started on the Rocky Boy Reservation ended near Sucker Creek Road south of Havre after about a dozen agencies became involved.
Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross says that the Rocky Boy Police contacted his office for assistance around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon when an officer recognized Thompson St. Pierre, who had a federal arrest warrant, as a passenger in a vehicle. The female driver sped off and a pursuit was initiated.
Ross says the pursuit ended north of Sucker Creek Road and the woman was taken into custody. St. Pierre fled into thick brush and hid for several hours. Rocky Boy Police officers encountered the St. Pierre, who brandished a firearm at them.
Officers set a perimeter and called for help from the Great Falls Police Department’s High Risk Unit. Ross says officers tried negotiating for hours with St. Pierre, but he never replied.
St. Pierre was located using drones and arrested at about midnight. As of Thursday morning, he was being held in the Hill County Detention Center on a federal warrant and two charges of assault on a peace officer without bail.
