HAVRE, Mont, (NMB) – A man alleged to have stolen two vehicles in Havre earlier this month has been charged with two felony counts of theft.
According to court documents, on December 11, Isaac Chapa allegedly stole a 2007 Chevy pickup that was left running in the parking lot of Town Pump. On Dec. 13, Chapa allegedly stole a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer that was left running outside the Palace Bar.
The affidavits state that as of Dec. 23, the Chevy pickup remained stuck in a frozen creek, while the Trailblazer was eventually returned to its owner.
The maximum penalty for the theft of the more expensive vehicle is 10 years in state prison and a $10,000 fine.
Chapa’s arraignment is scheduled for January 6 at the Hill County Court House. He remains in the Hill County Detention Center on $35,000 bond.
In March 2014, Chapa was sentenced to five years imprisonment after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault, a felony.
