YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (NMB) – A 34-year-old man from Colorado Springs, Colorado was gored by a bull bison near Giant Geyser at Old Faithful on June 27th.
The male sustained an injury to his arm and was transported by ambulance to a medical center.
He had been walking with his family on a boardwalk when a bull bison charged the group.
Family members did not leave the area, and the bull bison continued to charge and gored the male.
The incident remains under investigation.
Visitors of Yellowstone National Park should never be within 25 yards of all large animals, including bison. For bears and wolves, visitors must stay at least 100 yards away.
This is the second reported incident in 2022 of a bison that felt threatened goring an individual that got too close.
