(Eureka) – A Kalispell man is in custody following a deadly shooting in northwest Montana that left a sheriff’s deputy and a woman dead.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports that 28-year-old Deputy Ryan Terpsma responded to a disturbance call Saturday night on Lone Pine Trail in Eureka.
Authorities say Terpsma and a 46-year-old woman, identified as Merrisa Walker, were shot and killed at the scene. A Eureka police officer and a juvenile female were also injured.
Police say the suspect, 50-year-old Matthew David Dye, fled the scene toward Kalispell with a 7-year-old girl. Flathead County deputies located Dye, initiating a pursuit in which the suspect allegedly fired at officers and disabled two patrol cars. Dye surrendered at a roadblock on Highway 93.
Dye faces charges related to the homicides and is scheduled for an initial hearing in Lincoln County Justice Court this week.
