Man Transported to Hospital after Car Knocks Down Light Pole in Havre

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man was transported to a local hospital on Sunday evening after his vehicle knocked over a light pole in Havre.

Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich says at around 6 PM on Sunday,  an 82-year old man was driving north in a 2012 Toyota Prius on the 600 block of 5th Avenue when he drifted and collided with a light pole.

The pole was knocked down and the Prius suffered extensive damage to the front passenger side. The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported by the Havre Fire Department to Northern Montana Hospital. His condition is not known.

Northwestern Energy was also called to the scene and will be working to repair the pole.

The area was blocked off by authorities while they surveyed the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
