Mark Peterson comments on emergency mill increase.

(Havre) Flooding last spring caused damages in rural areas around the hi-line, New Media Broadcasters spoke with Commissioner Mark Peterson about their recent response

“This spring we had flooding in the rural areas and out in the park, and we’ve been, over time, trying to come up with a dollar figure of what those damages are. Somewhere between $120,000 and $150,000. The commission decided that we were going to take the emergency declaration and change it to a disaster.”

This change warrants and emergency levy of two extra mills, which will be added to those that pay road taxes. Commissioner Peterson says that the increase can range anywhere from a few cents to 9 dollars, varying from person to person.
