HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Agriculture has announced that they are awarding over $850,000 in Grant and Loan Awards through their Growth Through Ag Program, with many of the recipients coming from the Hi-Line.
In Havre, Crawford Distillery was awarded a grant for over $5,300 to assist with the purchase of distilling equipment that will increase production capacity from 50 to 300 gallons.
Also in Havre, the Milk River Joint Board of Control was awarded a $50,000 grant for supplies and materials to replace Drop 2 of the St. Mary Project.
Big Sandy Organics was awarded a $40,000 grant to increase storage space, grow production capabilities with the purchase of a second jacketed steam kettle, and to advance its national online marketing.
And in Malta, the St. Mary Rehabilitation Working Group was awarded a grant of over $43,000 to repair and replace the most severely failed expansion joints and concrete saddle supports of the St. Mary River Siphon.
The GTA program was established by the legislature to strengthen and diversify Montana’s agriculture industry by developing new agricultural products and processes. GTA funding requires the investment of at least $1 in matching funds for every $1 in grant or loan assistance received.
