HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – More than 60 local residents gathered on the lawn outside the Hill County Courthouse late Monday morning for Havre’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
Josh Gomez, Chaplain for the local American Legion Riders, provided the invocation and benediction.
“With humble hearts, we pray our respect to our departed comrades. We recall their accomplishments and promise to keep the peace for which they bought and paid for their blood,” Gomez said in part during the benediction.
The ceremony also included a 21-gun salute, the singing of The Star Spangled Banner, the reading of names of local Veterans who passed in the last year, and the raising of the American flag by local scouts.
Following the service, the Honor Guard went to the Highland Park Cemetery to perform a 21-gun salute, and a free will luncheon was held at the Elks Lodge.
